Look at me with my shiny resolutions...
Jan. 11th, 2009 10:29 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
(Shh, don't tell anyone, but I'm trying to keep the "week" part of the two LJ ones (fic and reality) anyway... Which means one of each between every Monday and Sunday, as per my diary. Fingers crossed?)
So, dose of reality. Lali is back at uni. She was dragged back (kicking and screaming) by her mother and brother, who heartlessly unloaded the car, dumped her and her belongings into her room, and drove off laughing while she chased them desperately and begged them not to leave her here.
More or less.
Anyway, lectures start up again tomorrow, and without someone else to follow around and no opportunity to go, "Sooo, whatcha doin' now? Watching ____? Cool. I'll sit here, then," I'm rather at a loss. Hello LJ, friend of students and insomniacs everywhere...
And now, for your delectation, a meme. S'far as I remember I was tagged by
rosy_dawn. Correct me if I'm wrong.
A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blog and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question.
B) Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.
What are your nicknames? Lali! A few people call me this in reality (you know who you are) and I love it. It never fails to make me happy, even when I'm in a foul mood. That's why I introduce myself as "Laligin, call me Lali" whenever I meet LJ peoples. ;) I also get called Gill (pronounced Jill, of course) by a few lecturers/students on the course and so on, and hey, whatever, I'll answer to it. My Gran still calls me Gilly, but she's allowed to get away with that. And one or two friends call me Gilly-pin every now and again (well hi there,
ranamag) but that usually makes me laugh so I don't mind. Much. :P
How do you style your hair? Er. I brush it. Most days. If that statics it up to all hell I then pat it down, but that's it. ^_^'
What's the last book you read? I read quite a lot over the holidays. I was very happy with that. All of the latter six Torchwood books, for example, (PLOT! *happyLali*) and I finally finished off Robin Hobb's Ship of Magic for the second time. Started that in September and abruptly had no time for reading. Currently working on Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and The Mad Ship (book two of Robin Hobb's trilogy) among other stuff. (:
What colour shirt are you wearing now? Black, I'm afraid. With the Penny-Farthing logo of The Prisoner. I felt it appropriate this morning.
If you could only have 5 songs to listen to for the rest of your life, which 5 would they be?
Agh. Well. I guess I should choose songs that I can't sing myself, to be sneaky here. But there are some I just can't go without. Too many, in fact. Have a selection of what I would go and grab from Youtube if I didn't have the CD handy.
1. O Fortuna by Carl Orff (from the Carmina Burana) (Yes, it has words. They may be in Latin, but it counts!)
2. Christie Lee by Billy Joel (along with most everything else he's done... *coughcoughcheat*)
3. Freya, Shakti by Emerald Rose (likewise)
4. Spirit of Man from Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of War of the Worlds (endorsed by James May. And really, it's a concept album and the whole thing would be one big track if they made CDs that could fit it on, soo... the whole thing, yeah?)
5. Lay All Your Love On Me by Abba... (along with a few others)
Damn, but that's the hardest question here. ^_^' I love far too many songs to give them up...
What are you looking forward to the most right now? THE HUB 2! Let me say that again. THE HUB 2!! (*diveglomps fellow attendees*)
Who was the last person you said 'I love you' to? That they heard? Probably Kimmi, and including Marie. (: We tend to throw that back and forward easily enough. It makes me smile. It's also odd that I'm so at ease saying it to them. Maybe because it's platonic. But I don't really ever say stuff like that to anyone else. Even family. ^_^'
Who was the last person you hugged?
shadowbyrd. She got back to the flat just after I did. Before that it was my mum, who grabbed me so hard I bit my lip and I'm still trying to work out if she was trying to draw blood from my back. Through three layers. ^_^'
What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction? This may come as a shock to you, but I am slightly fond of Torchwood. I like Doctor Who, too, but Torchwood has my heart, really. Though Merlin's gloriously fun as well. Too many other undying loves to name, particularly in books.
What was the last thing you ate today? Chocolate biscuit. But I did have dinner, fear not. And it was nice.
How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? Exactly as much time as I have in hand, plus three minutes. (I'm always late.) So anywhere from seven minutes to an hour and a half. Generally I aim for somewhere between forty minutes and an hour. Relaxed.
What websites do you visit daily? Well, considering I've been offline terribly recently, none... But LJ and Hotmail are my first port of call, always. Not necessarily in that order. My Firefox homepages while I'm at uni are LJ, LJMU, my friend's RP site (MUST post) and the Writers' Forum I kinda help run for the course.
What's your favourite colour? Green. The richest, most vibrant, purest green there can be. No pastels or khakis, please. Deep, serious, emerald green. The kind you see lined up with yellow, blue and red on anything BRIGHTLY rainbow coloured. (I kinda like bright colours...)
What are you listening to, right now? My "Fun, dancy stuff" playlist on my media player. ^_^' Just finished We Will Rock You, now we're at Voulez Vous. I'll come back and tell you what's up next. ;) (19th Nervous Breakdown, by the Rolling Stones. Love this one! Now Bat Out of Hell...)
What's the last song that got stuck in your head? Songs float in and out of my head all the time. I keep getting this one Kimmi sent me stuck - it's called I Kiss Your Lips, by DJ Maurice (so I read) and the chorusy bit is made of superstrength velcro or something. It just won't let go. Otherwise it's a many-melodied-medley all day every day. Frequently five or six different songs at the same time. And yeah, that can be pretty interesting. (They usually mix quite well, though...)
What cell phone model do you own? I think it's a Nokia 3120. Had it for years. First boyfriend bought it for me so he could send me text messages. (Yeah...) Trick was, it took me six months or more before I actually had it reliably turned on at least once a day - another friend had to buy me a phone case to stop me from leaving it in my bag for a week and not checking it. Now it lives on my belt loops. The flashy-spinny Tardis phone charm I added myself. ;) (And I found out yesterday that it can access the internet! Wowee...)
What is your favourite weather? That depends where I am and what I'm up to. I quite like sunny days if I'm in the right mood, 'cause you can get out and do more then. Wandering the Lake District, hiring a rowing boat, and paddling become viable options. Mind you, snow is fantastic to look at.
But above all else I adore thunderstorms. Give me lightning, precious, lightning!
How are you? I'm... okay at this precise moment in time. I'd rather be at home, but the fun dancy stuff playlist helps, and I've been much worse. Just slightly *sigh*, now what?, really.
Who is your favourite singer ever? I like lots. But the crown here might just have to go to Billy Joel. I was brought up on his music, most of his songs fall perfectly into my range, so I can sing them all to my heart's content, and he is very clever with his lyrics sometimes. (: And the tunes are just wonderful. (All for Leyna and Downeaster "Alexa" make frequent inroads into my headspace.)
At this point I should tag eight people. Let's see.
shadowbyrd,
ranamag,
captainweird,
shirafuzzy,
odangoinblack,
cowgrrl,
dr_is_in,
pinkfairy727, if you get as far as seeing this, then you're it! *runs*
And I fail epically at actually getting stuff done. Just to say.
(Also, when you start misreading adverts as: "Hurry, while socks last!" you know it's time to go sleep...)

Date: 2009-01-12 12:41 am (UTC)OOO! I love thunderstorms as well, it's a shame we don't seem to get many.
I've not heard much Billy Joel, however I do like the little I've heard. I was raised on ABBA songs, including the obscure ones even my Mam doesn't know. :P
I've already done this meme here (http://pinkfairy727.livejournal.com/78883.html#cutid1), except two questions in the middle are different.

Date: 2009-01-12 12:45 am (UTC)And I have a ridiculous amount of Billy Joel stuff on my laptop. (: He's one singer my whole family are in agreement about: Love!
And ai, I fail. ^_^' You even tagged me there, as well. So sorry! Missed that one...
