Stupid new Windows Media Player. Would it have killed the makers to add in the old "add to library" right click feature? Sweet goddesses, how am I meant to put things in?

Stupid. Frakking. "New and Improved". Bloody. Useless. Unhelpful. Vista.

): I want my old laptop back.

ETA: No, really. Where the £%_* are my files, Media Player? Why can't you just show me "All music" in the library? Why don't you have that wonderful dropdown option in the "Now playing" bit where I used to be able to switch between any artist or album or ALL MUSIC or whatever? In what way are you an advanced model of the one I used to have? In every way possible, you are inferior, and oh so incredibly £$**ing annoying.

Repairing the other laptop is getting better and better value for money the more this one annoys me. I've never been reduced to tears of fury by Windows before. Well done, Microsoft. Well done indeed.

ETA: *insert copious amounts of swearing here* IhateitIhateitIhateitIhateitIahateit. And it won't even let me download an older version of media player and go back to that, because "there is a newer version currently installed on your computer" and oh my god, nobody could *possibly* prefer something that was made more than a year ago! Because it's New And Improved! Have What We Tell You To Have! Don't Choose For Yourself! You Know Nothing, Foolish Consumer! Obey! Upgrade!

DELETE! DELETE! DELETE!

*kills small fluffy animals*

Jack and Iantobear are no longer safe.

Vista is evil.

I'm sorry about your laptop :( mine is sitting dead and forlorn while my dad writes angry letters to fujitsu siemens, who refuse to look at it.

Is there a laptop plague going round at the moment or something?

Vista is getting beyond evil. I'm not sure what's more evil than pure evil, but Vista is heading that way. Why, why, why did they think all this crap was a good idea?

There must be! It's probably all Vista's fault too. Somehow. Everything is Vista's fault atm.

I whole heartedly agree with that. Right now I'm trying to download Media Player 10 and rollback to it. I highly doubt it'll let me, but dear gods I hope it will.

I'm sure I have a bean-filled penguin around here somewhere. That would survive being thrown at walls repeatedly.

You may not be able to get it but most vendors allow you to roll back to XP. It might be worth checking.

I've never been reduced to tears of fury by Windows before.
Time for Linux? ;)

I don't think I can with this laptop, since it's so new and shiny. It'll only have had Vista on it, ever, and you know how clingy Microsoft make their software...

Thing is, I still find Windows easiest to use, because I know it so well. As you may have noticed, I'm extremely resistant to change... ^_^'

It may be worth checking out. What's the worst? They say, "no." There's been a LOT of people that hated Vista and went back to XP. Large corporations in The Colonies didn't upgrade to Vista. Seriously, please, check it out while you can. They may not want to do it but they may have to. :)

It wasn't easy to us at first was it? ;) You? Resist change? Arrest maybe but not change!

^_^' I'll look into it. Cautiously.

And yea, it was quite easy to use at first. Windows 95, bless it, and me ten years old or so. I got the hang of it... (:

Meeh. I like things to stop when I have them the way I like them... I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way.

Good for you. It may be too late but, it may not be. Going back to XP would undo some of the "change" for you. ;)

Linux is like that now, you just have to have the right distribution. MacOS isn't that bad but, it does take some getting used.

The only thing constant is change.

Death is only certain to happen, usually not when or where. Taxes? Eh, they can be avoided at a cost or completely if you live somewhere they don't tax.

Oh no! *hides the small fluffy animals!* Let's send fierce!Ianto after the folks at Microsoft who keep "improving" their software!

(I've managed to avoid Vista so far...I hear it's awful)

*pats Iantobear* He'd stungun the lot of them for me, wouldn't he? (:

(Avoid it as long as you can. Hopefully the next "upgrade" will return some of the better features of the older Windows, so if you do have to switch you can bypass the awful and go straight to something reasonably decent instead.)

*huggles*

You can always go into "Add/Delete Programs" and delete WMP, right?

And you must be really pissed at this computer. I've never seen you swear anywhere before, let alone so many times. =(

I can babysit your bears for you, if you need to. And I'm always here if you need to rant.

Sorry about your old (and new) laptops. Much hell to Vista, that's for sure.

Nopes. Windows Media Player cannot be deleted from the system. You can downgrade to an earlier version if it existed on your computer before the newest one, but you can't ever get rid of it. Which means I can't wipe it out and put on a sensible version instead. I *have* found a ridiculously convoulted way around the "add to library" issue, so I'm calm again, honest I am, but all the other little niggles are still present and will forever be...

And yeah, normally I don't swear at all. Or at least try not to. I think I've scared my brother via MSN, and Shadowbyrd via reality...

*is calm, is calm, is calm* I found the beanie penguin. The bears are safe for the moment. But they very, very much appreciate the offer. ^_^' Eh.

I think you should write a scalding email to the people that created WMP and unleash your bottled up fury because you are probably one of the calmest people I know and if this pisses you off than it is something to be annoyed about.

Have you thought about playing your music through iTunes? I think version seven is the one we have (it's outdated but simple) and it's pretty user friendly. Don't know how well Vista will like it.

Have to be careful with Vista though -- Marie says there is a lot of spyware on it, so be careful because she doesn't know what's on it, just that it is. >.< Someone on here suggested rolling back your system through a store or something -- that could probably work.

<3 Tell your bears that you'd be better soon. Be careful on that beanie penguin, though. I don't want it to fall apart.

It's Vista, and Media Player 11 or 12 or whatever they're up to now, specially designed *for* Vista. I'm working out many convoluted, previously unnecessary sneaky tricks to get it to do what I want, but my old media player was so *eager* to jump through hoops for me that it's still annoying. I'll cope, though, don't worry about me.
