(*checks again* Yup, this was my hundredth Torchwood fic. Nice that it's doing so well. ^_^)
Fandom: Torchwood (shock horror!)
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Jack/Ianto
Word Count: 535
Summary: Jack's been working all day, but Ianto knows just the thing to help...
Prompt: Jantolution Challenge #10, FLUFF
Winding Down
At a quiet knock on his door, Jack looked up. Ianto was there, watching him, with their latest find in one hand.
“Is it dangerous?” Jack asked wearily, but Ianto shook his head. Sighing, he made a dismissive gesture and told Ianto, “Then file it and move on to the next one. You don’t need me to tell you that.”
“It’s gone midnight,” Ianto said softly.
Jack stared at him in blank confusion for a second, then checked his watch, distantly startled. He looked back at Ianto and down at his desk again, then gestured vaguely at the piles of folders and files and the reports and forms scattered across it.
“I didn’t notice. I… there’s so much work to do.”
Ianto moved over, and took hold of Jack’s hand. He placed the new item firmly in Jack’s palm and curled his fingers around it, saying, “Hold this,” and then tidying up the desk for the night as Jack sat back.
When he’d arranged the stacks neatly he moved them to one side and perched on the edge of the desk, watching Jack again.
“You feel anything?”
“Like what?” Jack asked, but had barely finished asking before he felt a shiver of warmth creep down his spine. A pleasant sensation like stroking soft fur brushed across his palms, and he relaxed in his chair, looking up at Ianto curiously.
“One of these turned up at Torchwood One,” Ianto told him, with a faint smile. “It was archived and mostly forgotten about, but every now and again if I’d had a bad day I managed to find an excuse to fetch it out. Purely for research purposes, of course.”
“Of course,” Jack agreed quietly, feeling the ache wash out of muscles he hadn’t even realised were sore, and the faint pressure of a threatening headache fade away into nothing.
Ianto looked down at his hands, folded on his legs, and told him, “It’s harmless. It just relaxes you. If you let it play long enough you even get soothing music. You looked like you needed it.”
“Does it only work on one person at a time?” Jack asked drowsily.
Ianto shook his head, saying, “No, but it is a contact only device, so –”
“So come here,” Jack told him, managing to raise his free hand and take hold of Ianto’s wrist. He pulled gently, and Ianto flicked a glance at him, then let himself be pulled in, moving from the desk to Jack’s lap.
“I’m too heavy for this,” he muttered, but Jack simply told him, “Then we won’t stay here too long,” and arranged Ianto as he pleased, one arm around the back of Jack’s neck, his other hand linked with Jack’s to touch the device, and his head leaning on his arm, forehead against Jack’s cheek.
The device started to glow softly, with a gentle, pearly light.
“This is nice,” Jack admitted, and Ianto nodded silently.
Jack sighed, closing his eyes, and murmured, “Just what I needed.”
“It’s a useful device,” Ianto agreed sleepily.
With a soft laugh, Jack told him, “No.”
“No?” asked Ianto, startled enough to raise his head, and Jack opened his eyes to smile at him.
“I meant you.”
