Till Death Do Us Part
When Ianto finally gets down to the boardroom, his suit ruined by grease, smelling of oil and petrol and mud, he’s half-expecting to be accosted the moment he walks in. The others – Tosh and Jack in particular – were all so upset when they got wind of the SUV’s imminent demise, after all. He wouldn’t put it past Jack to order a two-minute silence and a suitable period of mourning, he’s so attached to the car. It’s not unreasonable of him to be prepared for anxious questions about the car’s ailing health (or perhaps even some acknowledgement of the sacrifices he’s made in his valiant attempts to resurrect their trusty vehicle. He liked this suit, too).
So when he walks in and finds the others poring over car magazines, with an episode of Top Gear playing on the screen, he’s briefly thrown.
“Ianto!” Jack exclaims, glancing around as he hears the door open. “Here, look at this.”
He holds up a magazine, pointing to a picture of a fierce-looking jeep with an even fiercer price tag.
“We were thinking this one,” he says cheerfully, “or maybe this one,” as he turns the page to a bigger, more expensive beast.
“I can integrate the systems no problem,” Tosh chips in brightly, “and it might be more expensive to run but there’s all these added features and the interior’s real leather, and –”
She stops, blinking at him, and after a pause as they all take in his blackened state, Jack says, “You’re in a bit of a mess. What have you been up to without me?”
“The SUV,” Ianto tells them flatly, “is in perfect working order again. You’re welcome.”
He shoots a dirty glance at the evidence of their betrayal and leaves, shaking his head.
Fickle, the lot of them.

Date: 2008-05-20 09:01 am (UTC)I totally did not expect Ianto to have fixed the SUV! And then I read "...perfect working order" and slapped myself for ever doubting Ianto! Very good job!

Also, cookies for getting Top Gear in. I love Top Gear. *bows at the Stigs feet*

Date: 2008-05-21 03:40 pm (UTC)I confess the "additional element" for that round was a TV show, so... But yeah, it seemed to fit far too well.
Some say he keeps his half-converted cyber girlfriend in the basement... Some say he's trained a pterodactyl to eat out of his hand... Some say he's the only man who can get the Captain's coat properly clean... All we know is... He's called...
er...
;)

Date: 2008-05-27 11:32 am (UTC)Challenge accepted. In return you have to write some fluff for this Jantolution challenge, and get it in and tagged before the 30th deadline. ;) Deal?
Re: Bribery
Date: 2008-05-27 12:21 pm (UTC)However it has spawned the idea for another fic that I need to start writing, you can have that one once it's finished :c)
