Between Meetings
Sarah suggested this. She noticed how much time I spend talking to Max, and she told me that maybe I should start writing things down in case he doesn’t turn up one night, or something stupid like that. "Whatever the weather," she said, as if he’s suddenly going to skip a meeting. He can’t. I won’t let him. But the next meeting isn’t for another four days and I need to talk to someone. If I can just get things straight in my head then I know I’m on the verge of something big. I’ve got the Glove working regularly now. Consistently. There has to be some way I can start extending the time.
Ianto keeps bringing me bloody goldfish. Like that’s going to help. I’ve done all I can with fish and flies. I managed to bring back a cat yesterday. Roadkill. That’s what I’ve been reduced to. Resurrecting bloody roadkill when I could be doing something useful.
Everything I’ve used it on has worked. Even Owen’s rats. He doesn’t kill enough for me to use, though, and Jack refused my request for more. He said we have enough problems with the pet shop without antagonising them further. So I’m going to have to do this alone. I know it works on fish and rats and cats, so it’s about time I tried it on a person. That’s what this is all about, after all, and if I can show them what the Glove is really capable of, then they’ll have to listen to me next time. I know what I need to do this.
But it has to be someone recently dead. Someone who’s still here enough for the Glove to get hold of them. Someone who was snatched away, not someone who faded. Violent death. Pain. Fear. Anger. That’s what I can get hold of. If I can find someone like that I can really get control of this.
I’ll put that to Jack. I’ll make him see reason. We can use traffic accidents. Suicides. Murder victims. Just as long as we get there fast enough.
Just as long as there’s enough of them around.
