laliginToday, dear friends, was results day. A level results, that is. Lovely.
So. I've been waiting for English, Latin, Classics, Maths and General Studies, and agonising over Latin and Maths, really. I wasn't entirely sure I would get As in them.
English was an A - very nice, all three modules As as well, full marks on the coursework and only 14 marks overall dropped on the two exams.
Classics was an A - not quite so nice, with the two exams winding up as a B and a C somehow, but since the exams last year went so well and I managed an A in the coursework it worked out, just. (3 marks into the A boundary. Oof, close.)
Maths was an A - I only needed 42 per cent on the last exam, but it went so dreadfully I was worried I'd miss by the skin of my teeth. I didn't. I scraped a C and 66 per cent, and made it to an A quite happily.
Latin was an A. And this I am delighted with, because I got a B last year (missed an A by one mark!) and it's been ridiculously difficult all year. My practice exams have ranged from B to U. But I got As in all three modules! I dropped nineteen marks over the three! I dropped three marks in the translation! I am quite delighted.
General Studies was a B. I got full marks on two of the modules (one of them being the one where I had to talk about "What is truth" and managed to get Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy in the essay). But somehow I got a D in one of the others, and a U in the last. 29/120. *blink* I am somewhat confused. But the U was the one where I got Torchwood/Doctor Who in. Maybe my examiner was one of the few people in the country who hates them. :D
Still. 4 As and a B. Not bad, really. Cambridge would have had to take me after all, if I'd said yes.
In other news, I have been buying stuff for going away to university. (Mum drags me round shops, going, "You'll need this. And one of these. And one of those. Oh, maybe two of those. What do you think?" And I go, "Um," and we buy stuff. The system works.) I am mildly vaguely terrified.
I got lots of stuff from LJMU this morning, too. Induction day booklet and the like, explaining what happens when and where. Our Imaginative Writing induction is on the 18th September, not the 17th. :( This means I won't get to bounce around going, "Hi, I'm Lali and it's my birthday today!" when I properly meet all the IW studenty types. *pout* I was looking forward to that. Instead I have an hour and a half session on the 18th, and an hour being taught to use the computers properly (it says IT induction, I'm assuming that's what...) on the 21st. Otherwise, it seems, the first week is fairly... empty. (*more pout*)
Oh, but one of the letters enclosed with the stuff starts off, "Dear Student Writer" - and I just love that. :)
Ooh. We have a module catalogue type thing. *investigates* (Sorry, I've been busy all day, haven't had a chance to look until now. Shadowbyrd came round at 8 this morning (only for her would I be up and dressed and reasonably awake at 8 in the morning) and stayed until about 5. :) I have such a dislike of letting her go once she's here. *evil cackle*)
Shiny! Semester 2 - Optional Module - Writing From Myth. Be taking that, then.
Ooooh, two optional modules of "Independent Study". Nyeheheheh. How many modules can I take, huh? :D :D (And do you think Torchwood counts? ^_^)
Oh, good. I've remembered why I was looking forward to this course. *happy clapping*
Dragon*Con first, though. I should really consider packing for that. Even just the considering might help, if I can't stir myself to get to actual packing. With it being less than two weeks away, 'n' all.
