Right, because I'm far too tempted, this is opening up much quicker than I'd planned. :D Thanks go to those who gave me prompts (and if you want to add some, do feel free - it's never too late).

Right. Here's how this works.

Here are Thirty Flavours of Torchwood.

You pick a prompt. Then, for that prompt, you pick any member of the Torchwood Team (past or present) or any such combination you please, add an extra condition or two if you want, and I write it for you in the comments.

The idea is that I write a drabble-size piece, but they may start at 100 words and head off into the sunset... And I will put the whole set in one post when they're done, for neatness' sake. :)

Crossovers are allowed, I suppose, but I'm not too well aware of many other fandoms (not even Buffy) so be cautious...

Eek. I hope this works. ^_^'

Er. It's here at last, but it's a bit weird... And precisely 1000 words. I do hope you like it... ^_^ (I confess [livejournal.com profile] shadowbyrd helped considerably on this one. It wouldn't have been quite so mad without her, I think. :D)

Knight In Harlequin Armour

That particular Tuesday morning, after returning from a week in London trying to get Torchwood One back on their feet again (that had been interesting, to say the least), Ianto woke to find Jack reading a tawdry romance novel. Yawning as he rolled over and made himself comfortable again, he asked sleepily, “You finished Pokemon, then?”

Jack made a sound of disagreement, absorbed in his book, and after a few moments managed to drag himself away from the unfolding drama and passion long enough to mutter, “Tosh recommended this. Still need to get through the Elite Four, though,” and then went back to reading.

Ianto smiled, and propped himself up enough to have a look at the cover. Mills and Boon – and he should have guessed, really.

Aware that Jack (who seemed to have less than fifty pages to go) was going to be completely out of things until he’d finished the book, Ianto took the opportunity to get out of bed (climbing over Jack and pausing to kiss his forehead on the way, earning himself a distracted smile but nothing more, as Jack couldn’t even tear his eyes away from the page) and go have a leisurely shower, rather than having to rush in the last five minutes before the others started arriving.

He noticed (and wondered what it said about him that he did) that Jack had replaced the old flower-pattern shower curtain with a plain cream one, and smiled to himself, pleased that Jack had had the sense to do some work around the place and take some of the burden off Ianto’s shoulders.

Humming idly to himself, he stepped into the bath, pulling the curtain along the rail and starting the shower. It took a few moments for the water to heat up, and then he was able to relax and start washing away the aches he’d picked up over the last week in London (and last night with Jack).

Eyes closed, humming a few different songs as he remembered them, he felt a tickle against his leg and paused to look down, finding that the shower curtain had started drifting towards him, drawn by the steam and the heat. With a sigh (that was the only real downside of the in-bath shower, as opposed to a separate cubicle) he pushed it back to the side of the bath with his foot, and got on with his wash.

It started drifting back again immediately, so he ended up holding it in place with his foot, trying to avoid splashing soap on it too much.

After another few moments he became aware that it was slowly enveloping his foot and lower leg, and he had to stop and unwrap it by hand. It clung to his fingers unexpectedly, until he pulled back, at which point it visibly returned to his leg and started winding its way up his thigh.

Startled, Ianto pushed it away again, only for it to tighten, the middle swaying forward to wrap itself around his forearm and cling to his waist.

He pulled away with a yelp, dropping the soap and trying to get it off his leg, his back pressed up against the opposite wall. It refused to let go, the rest of the lower edge swaying in and reaching out to embrace him instead.

Ianto couldn’t help it. He shrieked, “Jack! Help!” and struggled out of the bath, fighting his way out of the shower curtain and then tripping when it hung onto his leg, rolling over and trying to unwind it from him with both hands, and getting nowhere.

“What’s wrong?” Jack called from the bedroom, apparently too engrossed in his book to come dashing to Ianto’s aid.

“I’m being attacked!” Ianto yelled back, trying to kick the shower curtain off him. “For God’s sake do something!”

He heard the bedsprings go (at last) and then the door opened, Jack asking, “What the hell – oh. Cedric, behave.

He moved past Ianto to give the shower curtain a resounding slap in the middle, and it let go of Ianto’s leg, withdrawing sharply as Ianto scrambled backwards, away from it. Then Jack turned and gave him a hand up, saying, “Sorry, I forgot to tell you. I was too busy catching up with everything.”

“Cedric,” Ianto said flatly.

Jack gave him a sheepish grin, and said, “Yeah. He came through the Rift a few days ago. He’s harmless. Very affectionate, too. I think he likes you.”

“And you decided to hang him up as a shower curtain because…?”

Jack shrugged. “He likes it there. Warm and damp, just his conditions. Besides, he’s really handy for getting to all those hard-to-reach spots. And as long as you treat him right he’s no trouble. He just needs a firm hand.”

Ianto stared at him blankly, half amazed that Jack would consider this perfectly normal, and half amazed that he’d managed to make his explanation sound so incredibly filthy.

“No,” he said after a moment. “Just, no. I’m not having a sentient shower curtain. He can go somewhere else.”

Pouting, Jack told him, “I can’t throw him out. He’s already paid a month’s rent.”

“He’s a shower curtain,” Ianto said disbelievingly. “He hasn’t even got pockets. How the hell has he paid –” and then he stopped, looking at Jack’s growing grin, and didn’t even bother to finish his sentence.

“If that’s all,” Jack said, smiling brightly at him, “you were in the middle of your shower, and I’ve got fifteen pages to go.”

He pushed Cedric aside to reach into the bath and fetch the soap, slapping it into Cedric’s eager folds and turning to leave. Ianto stopped him with a hand on his chest, and snapped his fingers at Cedric.

“I’ll let you finish your book later,” he promised, as Cedric obediently handed him the soap, and he in turn slapped it back into Jack’s hand.

“But for now,” he said, waiting for Jack to start smirking, “you have other things to do.”

Thanke most kindly! I'm glad you thought so - it amused me no end while I was writing it, but I have a very strange sense of humour. ^_^

This is brilliant, thank you! It's hilarious. Also, Pokémon reference, yay! (I've been playing it on my Gameboy Color non-stop for the past few weeks). I loved this, well done.

I'm glad you liked it. :D Yay Pokemon! (I've been playing Pearl on my DS (brand new and shiny!) all week, too. ;) Mind you, it was still [livejournal.com profile] shadowbyrd who suggested Jack plays Pokemon when he can't sleep at night, in her fic "Kinks in the Cables". But it's too good not to steal. ;) )

Thanke kindly. :)

You mentioned the Flavours in your last entry and I was like: Hey! I need to check that, it would be very bad to miss on some charming drabbles.

I wasn't sure about commenting :)

Hee. :) Some of them are drabbles... Some of them turned into fully fledged fics. ([livejournal.com profile] shadowbyrd's is over 1500 words, I think...)

And never, ever, ever worry about commenting on any of my stuff at least. I'm a freak for comments. It makes me dance in delight every time I get the LJ email. ;)

*divehug* Thanke!
