Hmmm. My daughter had a lot of these problems last year. It gets better in year 2, because you can move in with people you know/trust/can blackmail.
If it's any consolation, my ex-boss (retired) had very similar problems when she was a student. The answer she and a friend came up with was to pitch the dirty washing up into a bowl and leave it on the offender's bed. My daughter's eventual solution was to remove items that she had to wash/wipe/put away. She ended the year with three sandwich toasters and enough crocks to start a tea-room - the other occupants just never seemed to wonder where their stuff had gone.
