Summary: Babysitting a cute little alien for one night shouldn't cause this kind of trouble...

Prompt: Jantolution Challenge #10, FLUFF

A/N: Requested by [livejournal.com profile] joulez217. ;) Slight spoilers for Gremlins... (Also makes far more sense if you've seen that...)

Mogwai and Maltesers

Jack looked up from combing through their guest’s fur, holding it still as it wriggled, and paused at the sight of Ianto lying on the floor, blowing a Malteser into the air.

“You know that’s what caused all our problems in the first place,” he pointed out, and Ianto guiltily caught the Malteser in his mouth and sat up, eating it quickly.

“It’s not my fault you knocked your mug over,” he shot back, mouth full, adding, “Waste of good coffee, too.”

Jack sighed.

“You surprised me. You know what it does to me when you do that cute little thing with the Maltesers.”

“You can’t blame me for your lack of self-control,” Ianto told him firmly, and Jack rolled his eyes.

“Well, it’s your fault there was food lying around for them.”

Ianto put his hand over the box of Maltesers, frowning at him.

“You were the one who suggested having dinner here and watching a film while we babysat. Forgive me if I didn’t get round to clearing everything up.”

“Okay, okay,” Jack said, holding up one hand in surrender but keeping hold of their guest. “It was an accident, we’re both at fault, and the others are never going to let us hear the end of this. Agreed?”

“Agreed,” Ianto sighed, and shot a sorrowful look at the little brown-and-white-furred creature in Jack’s lap. “You realise, all we had to do was take care of him for one night, without getting him wet or feeding him after midnight. It sounds so simple.

The little creature’s ears dipped, and it looked back at him apologetically. Jack patted its head and went back to combing its fur clean again.

“Nobody ever told me why you have to be so careful,” he told Ianto, with an apologetic look of his own.

“Are you sure you didn’t just forget?” Ianto asked, raising an eyebrow, and Jack looked hurt.

“I’d’ve remembered this,” he protested. “Anyway. The others are on their way, and they’ll be able to stop them before they level Cardiff.”

Ianto raised his other eyebrow, and Jack hesitated, then said, “They will. I’m sure they will. Tosh’ll think of something.”

“I want to know how they got us into lockdown so quickly,” Ianto muttered, and lay back down, fetching another Malteser and balancing it on his lips.

“I’m more worried about how they all escaped,” Jack said distractedly, swilling the comb in the bowl of water on the coffee table and drying it carefully on a towel before returning his attention to the creature’s fur. “I mean, I know they’re fairly small, but our security’s better than that.”

Ianto nearly choked himself on his Malteser, and managed to disguise his laughter behind the coughing.

Jack hurriedly put the little creature down on the coffee table and leaned over to see Ianto better, asking, “Are you alright?”

Nodding frantically, Ianto sat up again and got himself under control. With a sigh of relief, Jack flopped back down on the couch, startling the creature, which promptly tripped and fell into the bowl.

“Jack!” Ianto exclaimed in horror, even as Jack fished him out and sheepishly patted him down with the towel, saying, “That wasn’t my fault. That really, really wasn’t my fault.”

The creature gave a little cry, wriggling uncomfortably as bulges started appearing under its skin. They separated out into new creatures, and Ianto scrambled to grab all the food lying around, and hurried to lock it in Jack’s desk, then locked the office door as well.

By the time he came back Jack had a dozen furry little monsters crawling all over him, most of them making hungry growls as they went.

The original creature, still not entirely clean of sweet and sour sauce from their first accident, fixed its unhappy gaze on Ianto, the look on its face matching Jack’s so perfectly Ianto couldn’t help himself.

He started laughing.

lol - I can just see Jack covered in gremlins

Brings new meaning to "fluff" methinks

By the way, I stalked you a little and read the rest of your fluff - it's good stuff :) (I'm the good kind of stalker)

You rock!

Lol! Gremlins! Brilliant!

Love Ianto doing the maltesers thing. I've done that: fun but with a risk of getting lines of chocolate across your face... hehe

Heh, that's certainly a new take on fluff. I only saw Gremlins once, when I was very young...freaked me right out. ^^; The thought of Jack covered in the fluffy little guys is cute though.

I've never heard of Maltesers though. Looking at them on Wiki...they seem rather like Whoppers?

Couldn't resist the Maltesers. Haven't had any myself in ages... And it's so much fun to make them float. ^_^ Hee.

Hee. The Maltesers trick is way too much fun. (Also keeps Jack very amused if he tries to steal them while they're in the air... Eheh.)

^_^ Credit to [livejournal.com profile] joulez217 for begging for the Gremlins. ;) Glad you enjoyed, though, thanke kindly!

It's only been... *counts* Um. Sixteen? I think sixteen so far. (: Eheh.

Do try the floating, it's most amusing, particularly with more than one person trying. (Also, make sure to invoke at least the ten-second rule so when they drop they're still perfectly edible... ;) )

I missed Gremlins up until a year or two ago, so I was beyond the point at which I could be freaked out. (I saw Nightmare on Elm Street first, after all... Eheh.) I quite see your point though.

Glad you liked. (:

And yeah, Wikipedia does claim that. The trick with Maltesers is they're really light because they have such a honeycomb centre. If you lie on your back and balance them on your lips and blow, you can make them hover - which is what Ianto's doing. Though he's also catching them when they drop and that always had me choking, so... ^_^' Eheh.
