But... if shapeshifter new everything that Ianto did, wouldn't he have known that Jack cannot die? For that matter, since Ianto knows Jack will not permanently die, there is not a reason for him to shoot him to take him out of action if he thinks that the situation is dare enough? (I mean, Ianto is a practical sort...)
