Yup, had Cambridge interviews yesterday. Went down on the train last lesson Monday, stayed overnight with my Uncle, and did all the actual interview jazz yesterday.

First one went well. General interview, dealing with things from my personal statement and so on, and the interviewer was an English teacher, so I ended up discussing Creative Writing, archery, and the variety of the fey for twenty minutes or so. Made it overrun by about 8 minutes. Had fun. ^_^

Second one wasn't so great. Subject specific, and they phrased the questions weirdly. At one point they wanted me to say that a certain word was ambiguous because it could be either an infinitive or an imperative. But instead of saying, "And what's odd about this word?" they said, "And what is 'insert word here'". Which is a very strange question to be asked. So I frowned at them, and when eventually they let me know what they wanted, I was kind of there saying, "What, an infinitive or an imperative? Is that all you wanted me to say?" For heaven's sake, they could be a little clearer. And "How can you date a specific layer in an archaeological investigation?" I was a little irritated by that point, and simply said, "Well, finding a coin would be nice." And they nodded and smiled and said, "Yes, yes, exactly." Because that's what they'd wanted me to say. Even though that was... silly.

Silly sort of summed up the second interview.

On the plus side, though, in the couple of hours between them, I found a NICE book fair (fantasy books, mint condition, 50p each... *drool*) and went to the Fitzwilliam Museum, which has the MOST fantastic display of medieval weaponry. Ah, the swords. The halberds. The military flails. The holy water sprinklers. And yes, holy water sprinklers are actually weapons, not irrigation devices for sacred grass. They're like clubs or maces (with LOTS of spikes on) but as tall as a halberd. Ooh, joy. No cameras allowed. Tchah.

And I worked on a new plotbunny on the train journeys. Lovely.

Was (still am) absolutely knackered by the time I got back, mind. And I have an essay to do for Classics. Grarg. But I'll manage.

Unfortunately, missed Shadowbyrd this morning. I was a little late in and she'd already gone. I know she was in school, though - she emailed me at ten to nine saying, "Skiver! Where are you?"

Eheh. Going to email her now with the plotbunny as apology. Tata.
