Voices in the Night
Ianto woke in a panic, flailing out one arm and struggling to sit up, trying to work out what had disturbed him.
“Whoa,” Jack said, catching him. “Easy. Go back to sleep, it’s okay.”
Ianto blinked at him, confused, then his neighbour started shouting into his phone again, each word loud enough to penetrate the wall. Jack winced.
“Yeah. That.”
Ianto checked the clock dazedly, then moaned and flopped back down, rolling onto his stomach and pulling the pillow over his head. Voice muffled in the mattress, he asked Jack, “What the hell is he talking about at four in the morning?”
“Everything that comes to mind, from the sound of it,” Jack told him, and Ianto crossed both his arms over the top of the pillow, flattening it down tighter to his ears and making a valiant attempt to go back to sleep. He felt Jack’s hand on his back, then the bed bounced as he got up. Ianto didn’t bother moving.
A minute or two later his neighbour went quiet. At that Ianto cautiously raised his head. A few seconds passed in silence, then he heard his door go, and Jack wandered back into the bedroom, barefoot and topless.
“Sorted,” he said simply, and Ianto stared at him.
“You went to see him dressed like that?”
Jack looked down at his trousers and shrugged, then took them off and climbed back into bed, saying, “Worked, didn’t it?”
Ianto gave him a suspicious look, and asked, “What did you do?”
“Beat the crap out of him for disturbing you,” Jack said casually, making himself comfortable again. “He’s probably dragging himself to A and E right now.”
Staring at him, Ianto said slowly, “That’s almost sweet. In a worrying, ‘you’re going to get me evicted’ kind of way.”
Jack grinned, and ran a hand down his back.
“I’m kidding. I just told him he was keeping you awake and suggested he keep a bit quieter unless he really wanted everyone in the block to know everything he’s shouting about.”
“My god, diplomacy,” Ianto proclaimed in surprise, taking Jack’s hand and settling down again. “I must be rubbing off on you.”
“I wish,” Jack teased, then kissed the back of his neck and told him, “Later. Go to sleep. And if he wakes you again I get to beat him for real, right?”
“I’ll think about it,” Ianto promised him, smiling, and went back to sleep.

(Also - your username would appear to be based somewhat on Waiting for Godot, so I stalked you a bit and am madly in love with your email, your LJ bio, and the quotes down the side of your journal. (Did I really spot an I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue quote in there? Made of win!) Yes. You're awesome. *bows down to you*)

Hehe, my name is from the two characters from waiting for godot.
Thank you for the bowing and such, but I am a mere reader, lol.

Jack just has no concept of restrictive social etiquette. If it gets the problem sorted, then by all means wander down the hall half dressed and interfere with your neighbour's phone conversation...
(: I need me a Jack like that.
Eheh. Glad you liked it, thanke.
