The works...

We've had scaffolding up for a couple of weeks now. Joyful. The roof's being re... um... redone. Yeah. Lining/insulation/retiling, whatever. That sort of stuff.

There's been resultant noise at 8am (*whine*) - and I mean serious noise here - and tiles and gravel apparently thrown at the windows (alright, they dropped stuff, but still - KERBANG, everybody jumps, yelling, "What the hell was that?!" Oh, it's just the roof coming down around our ears, it's fine...) and the concrete out the back has looked like a bomb site at various points...

And better yet, they turned up on the first day after the scaffolding went up, worked like mad, did tons, impressed us mightily, and then vanished. They didn't come back until the next week, at which point they were here until about 3 in the afternoon, then vanished again for a week.

I have not been impressed.

But! This week, they've been all regular and dedicated, got a lot done, brushed the chaos on the concrete into piles before they leave, and, right at this moment, one of them is washing the windows!

Okay, so I'm impressed again. :)

But I'd still like a lie in. Without the drilling, sawing, hammering and crash of falling roof, please.

^_^ Eheh.

...Scary roof builder people.

Do they drink strong tea and show their bum alot? If not, they're not real builders. True facts.

But they did wash the windows, which is nice.

Nope, they don't. They remain fully clothed at all points (and it has to be said, this is really a good thing...) and they don't even come into the house. Mum offered them tea once and they politely turned her down, so we just left them to it.

Apparently they're not real builders, then. :) But they have done a rather good job so far, all told...

And yes, the window washing is nice. They even did the outside of my window, which has never been washed in its poor little life, being so high up and awkward.

I'm not sure that the fact they are fake builders is a good or bad thing. I suppose the whole keeping their bottoms covered up and not stealing your tea could be counted towards them, especially if they also clean your grubby little window.

I think we can allow them to continue on in their fake buildery ways, and not expose them as the con-men they are.

*nodnod* I have a certain fondness for conmen anyway (too much Hustle, clearly. Nothing to do with Jack... ^_^') so I shall let them be.

Mmmm Jack...Mmm Hustle...Well, as long as they don't steal you, or your roof.
