I wish I could help you on this one, but I just can't. Like you, Small Worlds caused me to really start to dislike her character and it just got worse. By EOD I wanted to smack her.

That said, I think it would be easy to use her in fic to be the one doing the actual police work- interviewing (even if "off camera") or working with the local cops, etc.
