I have two days...

... until the end of the current Jantolution challenge. I'm frantically working on a fic for the My Immortal prompt, and busy turning over a few drabble ideas as backup in case I don't type quick enough, and I've already covered Himalaya, Crack!fic, and Jack Returns with Tourism in Lockdown, but - and this is the key point - I have no idea what to do with the Harry Potter prompt.

None at all. This doesn't usually happen to me.

Hmph.

Anything you guys want to see (preferably a reasonably short idea...)? Otherwise I'll have to try and think of something very quickly, and it probably won't be any good.

But I have to have a fic ready for it! I've completed every Jantolution challenge so far, it's a matter of pride/obsessive-compulsiveness now... (Mara, you have me more than hooked. *shakefist* :P)

Darnit.

I'm like that I have to finish each and every prompt I just CAN'T do one on it's own!

Okay Harry Potter prompt, JK is a person from a parralel uiverse and Harry Potter was real there as in magic and muggles existed.

Well it's yours if you want it!

Hee. I think miss_zedem and I have managed to do every prompt of every challenge... It really is quite an obsession, and I utterly sympathise. :)

Hm. I shall consider it, and thanks for helping feed the plotbunnies. The Jantolution lot are looking undernourished at the moment, though the dozen or so other hutches are quite happy...

[identity profile] phantomreviewer.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Obsessions the word, I mean I HATED the crack!fic prompt and yet I did it...

Madness!

I can provide rabbit food if needed...

[identity profile] laligin.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
:D Whenever a new challenge goes up, I nab the prompts and song lyrics, do some research and keep that in one Word file, then make files for the other prompts and type out a basic plot idea at the top. Something nearly always hits me the first time I see them, then it's just a matter of getting them finished in time.

Unfortunately, my, "JantolutionJulyHarryPotter" file is currently blank. Completely.

And yet I'm still determined to get something down... I have this mad plan to do every prompt ever.

It's much akin to my joining fanfic100. I get drawn in by the prospect of prompts and challenges... I can't help it...

Ahem. Yes. Well.

*plotbunnies go bouncing past gleefully*

They seem to be picking up, actually...

[identity profile] phantomreviewer.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I never research what I do, I make things up and that's what works for me...

I just look at them and then idea's come, sort of, well I make the idea's come.

Why not just work Harry Potter into Immoral Beloved or what ever it was as a mention? It's what I did.

I'm probally going to be stuck on doing these as well.

I've got a ficaton on at the momemt and it's a big one, each fic has to be at the very least 1000 words long (it's the doctor who minor characters ficaton) and it's goign to take forever and yet I have a time limit...

*offers homegrown carrots and hand picked apples*

[identity profile] laligin.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I only meant that I research things to make sure they're accurate. :) If I ever mention a day and a date together, I've looked it up to make sure that it's right for whatever year I'm working in, for example. And I was working on a Stargate crossover at one (two) point(s), so of course I just had to go and watch any and all related episodes...

My "My Immortal" one doesn't take well to Potter-esque intrusions. It would seem out of place or shoehorned in just for the challenge... Hrmph.

That ficathon sounds fun. There should be a similar one for Torchwood - for characters like Kathy Swanson or one-shot villains and the like. :) Hmhmhm, ideas strike...

*watches a tide of plotbunnies dive on you for the food* Uh oh. Now you've done it...

[identity profile] phantomreviewer.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that's the type of thin I don't do, I normally just don't mention something, I'd say the 18th of August or Friday that 2nd, see in every year there's a Friday the 2nd and an August the 18th!

I just watch Doctor WHo becuase I want to.

Oh well, just an idea.

It's called tindogs_fic the site I'm doing it on.

But I have a secret weapon... come out Bobbie (she's my dog) (and she's very fast)

*watchs Bobbie chase that plotbunnies away*

[identity profile] laligin.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, but I'm somewhere between being ridiculously pedantic and a touch obsessive compulsive. :) I can't let details be wrong - it drives me up the wall if I let a mistake slip past me. ;)

*the plotbunnies flee, and dive on Lali instead*

*is submerged under a pile of nibbling plotbunnies* Darn. >_< Now I'm in trouble. Though maybe there's another Harry Potter bunny in here... *starts hunting*

[identity profile] phantomreviewer.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
My friends brother is OCD, so it's not that I don't understand... it's that I can't be bothered! :-)

I seriiusly can't!

Bobbie wouldn't hurt a fly! SHe just likes to chase things.

Why not offer the bunnies a copy of The Deathly Hallows, which ever one jumps on it is the HArry Potter bunny!

[identity profile] laligin.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. Good idea. ;) Unless it's already got away...

(Oh, and if you ever want a beta who'll happily attack commas, full stops, speech-marks and minor details in a frenzy of correct-ness that would shock all but the most pedantic of readers, just ask. ;) )

[identity profile] phantomreviewer.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Well might as well try it.

Hellenebright BETA's for me at the moment but when you're dislexic like me then any help is nice so I may take you up on that!

[identity profile] laligin.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure thing - I just remember that your NotSoBigHeaded fic wasn't betad, and I'm usually a fairly quick beta, so I thought I'd offer. :)

[identity profile] phantomreviewer.livejournal.com 2007-07-29 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I noramally do get my stuff BETAed *crosses fingures* but i didn't want to bother her because I remember that I wrote it early in the morning.

I probally will take you up on that.

I do a bit of BETAing but not BETAing the spelling/grammer I do BETAing the story itself, like I'm BETAing a story for a girl who's writing a story with Jack and her own character but it's set in Torchwood and she's never seen Torchwood in her life and I get given Doctor Who stories from my friend (rosetyler4ever) to check for mistakes because in her words, 'I seem to have learn the serie soff by heart'

[identity profile] laligin.livejournal.com 2007-07-30 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. I've fairly learnt Torchwood off by heart, too. And while I'm good at catching mistakes that don't quite follow canon or suchlike, I'm always hesitant to comment on someone else's plot/characterisation too much. Sounds like we're the perfect Beta opposites. :D

[identity profile] phantomreviewer.livejournal.com 2007-07-30 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, I catch the tinyest of mistakes like rosetyler4ever was writting somethign about a dalek
'and a green flash of light came out of it's laser weapon and the Doctor fell down, dead'
And I was like, Daleks rays are blue and as evidence I got up a screen shot of a dalek firing.
The fact I am obbesssive over my Doctor Who makes me a useful person in those situations!

Well for these people it's my 'job' to compent on plot and characteriseation, I sometimes do a bit of brit-picking is it called? You know changing cola to coke and stuff like that for Amanda but mostly I'm a plotting BETA.

We're the opposites! Totally!

:-D

[identity profile] laligin.livejournal.com 2007-07-30 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
*giggles* See, I wouldn't have been too sure about that, but I would have squealed, "A possessive "its" has no apostrophe!!" :D That amuses me far more than it should.

*celebrates our differences* ^_^

[identity profile] phantomreviewer.livejournal.com 2007-07-30 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah well...

It is funny, when you think about it!

*celebrates as well*

Being different is brilliant!

dyslexic even
